No one likes to consider the possibility of ever having to move to a “nursing home” or long term healthcare community. It is for this reason that few people do any advance planning or investigation into such arrangements. While only a small percentage of Americans live in a nursing home providing extended full-time care, studies show that 70% or more of people over age 65 will need at least some level of skilled or long term care during their lifetimes. In this class we will explore local residential healthcare options including assisted living, long term and nursing care, as well as hospice, palliative, and in-home healthcare.
